Cosplay: Gwen Stacy

This past weekend I got to play Gwen Stacy in a short film titled "Peter Parker's Guide to Picking Up Chicks" written and directed by Michael Galusick.  I'll admit that I'm not a die-hard comic book fan, but I love all the superhero movies, so it was a real treat for me to be involved in this project.  I never knew of Gwen Stacy, so it was fun researching the first love of Peter Park aka The Amazing Spiderman.  What was most interesting was reading about her death, which thought to be at the hands of the Green Goblin, was actually caused by the broken neck she suffered by the sudden jerking/stopping motion from being caught by Spiderman's web as she fell from the bridge.  Interesting...

I loved shopping for my cosplay outfit.  Believe it or not, I actually found a purple skirt and green jacket.  $10 for the whole outfit.... I love thrift store shopping.  What I didn't love was standing outside in the 40 degree weather in said skirt for two days.  Ugh.  Didn't anyone tell mother nature that it is almost May? But I suffer for my art (dramatic hand-to-forehead).

The whole cast and crew were so much fun and amazingly talented, funny people.  So many pop culture and comic book references all weekend.  My head was spinning!  I truly love how funny people are.  Everyone is a comedian, whether they realize it or not.  And these folks were no exception.  I'm so thankful to know so many talented people and more keep coming into my life all the time.

Needless to say, after that weekend, I was in the comic book superhero mood, so my soon-to-be and I cuddled on the couch and watched Captain America: The First Avenger.  This weekend, we'll have to catch up on Thor in preparation for seeing The Avengers while on our honeymoon in Niagara Falls. ;)

I can't wait for the film to be completed!  I'll add a link on my blog for your viewing pleasure.  Until then...
